Isn’t that a bit too ambitious? Or just crazy?
We don’t believe the project is too ambitious or crazy. Just look at the US, China, Japan, SpaceX, BlueOrigin. Throwing massive amounts of money and energy at the project. We believe in people, and the potential of crypto to fully connect and empower the people.
But we aren’t stupid either. Like all great journeys it begins with a single step.
We will first be running a proof of principles demonstration by building SatHawk 🦅 a web3 satellite tracking app designed to enable the assessment of satellite operations in accordance with our space sustainability standards. As a practical matter, this means mitigating orbital debris, which can render orbits around Earth unusable for generations. By tracking satellites users will be rewarded in crypto (details TBD) thus aligning incentives.
Rallying our community around building the SatHawk will put our web3 operating infrastructure to the test, but more importantly help us define and refine our guidance principles of governing the commons into code. And by successfully launching, maintaining, and improving the SatHawk, we will signal to the markets, both web2 and web3, that our approach works and is worth investing in for the long haul - mining asteroids in space.
